SOUTH FLORIDA SCIENCE MUSEUM ANNOUNCES THREE NEW HIRES
West Palm Beach, FL – Three new stars are shining under the observatory dome at the South Florida Science Museum announcedLew Crampton, the Museum’s president and CEO. David Hall has been named director of advancement, Rebecca Shearer is the Museum’s aquarist and Keleigh Wright joins as marketing and events coordinator for the Museum.
“David, Rebecca and Keleigh are a great complement to the team we have in place here at the Museum,” said Crampton. “We have so many new things happening in honor of our 50th anniversary from exhibits to events, and I’m pleased to have an enthusiastic group to take us through this important milestone.”
In his new role, Hall is responsible for securing the Museum’s contributed revenue goals and providing overall supervision of the Museum’s marketing efforts. As marketing and events coordinator, Wright will work closely with the Museum’s education, visitor services and operations departments on the Museum’s events and program support. As the aquarist, Shearer will be in charge of the Museum’s salt and freshwater tanks. Visitors can join her every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at 1:30pm for aquarium feedings and the chance to touch a live shark and now, stingrays.
A Boynton Beach resident, Hall brings more than twenty-five years of quality service, marketing and sales management experience to his new Museum role. He received a Bachelor of Arts, Theatre Arts degree from the State University of New York, Binghamton. Hall is actively involved in the community including memberships in the Palm Beach, Wellington and West Palm Beach chambers of commerce; National Committee on Planned Giving (NCPG); Palm Beach County Cultural Council and is an avid coach for Little League baseball.
Shearer brings an extensive background in marine biology and was most recently the assistant animal trainer and performer at Sea World in Orlando. Shearer graduated from the University at Albany SUNY in Albany, NY with a Bachelor of Arts in Science Biology, Music Minor in Songwriting and Performing Arts and also was a performance major at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. She is a Singer Island resident.
Wright joins the Museum with a Bachelor of Science in Communications degree from the University of Miami. She majored in public relations and economics and minored in marketing. A Fort Lauderdale resident, Wright was most recently an intelligence analyst at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security where she conducted intelligence research analysis, produced internal archive reports as well as marketing and public relations tasks.
The South Florida Science Museum delivers entertaining and educational journeys through the many worlds of science and technology for curious minds of all ages. Located just off I-95 and Southern Blvd. in West Palm Beach, the Museum features more than 50 hands-on exhibits, a digital planetarium, freshand saltwater aquariums, as well as natural history exhibitions. New happenings at Museum include the Bugz exhibit, the Amateur Radio Center open on weekends and holidays as well as Nights at the Museum the last Friday of each month. Each year the Museum welcomes more than 125,000 visitors and reaches more than 45,000 students through workshops at the Museum and outreach programs to local schools.
