Volunteer Opportunities

Our volunteers during this year's "Evening at the Casino" volunteer appreciation party. The evening included an interactive murder mystery set in the roaring 20's, give-aways, gift certificates and a fully-catered dinner.

Main Floor Volunteer: A Main Floor volunteer looks out for the safety of the visitors and helps explain the exhibits. Enjoy interacting with families of all ages!

Aquarium Volunteer: An Aquarium volunteer demonstrates the touch tank, helps the aquarium curator maintain the fish tanks, and has a great opportunity to gain further knowledge about aquariums and marine life.

Behind the Scenes Volunteer: A Behind the Scenes volunteer helps in the Membership, Development , Education, and Public Relations departments. These volunteers help file, type, organize, do mailings, phone calls, etc.

Museum Store Volunteer: A Museum Store volunteer helps maintain the museum store, helps with inventory, maintains order during a heavy rush, gives the store manager a break, and helps visitors. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and have excellent communication skills.

Planetarium Volunteer: A Planetarium volunteer helps take tickets for the planetarium shows, helps with the observatory, telescopes and assists the planetarium director. A Planetarium volunteer with an interest in astronomy may in time, become a planetarium presenter, giving programs and pointing out constellations in the dome. Friday nights are important nights for the telescopes.

Exhibits Volunteer: An Exhibits volunteer is carefully screened by the Exhibits Director and helps maintain exhibits. Since this department often requires the use of power tools and ladders, special restrictions apply in terms of age and experience.

Outdoor Trail: An Outdoor Trail volunteer guides visitors through our Outdoor Science Trail and explains our interactive exhibits.

THIS ISN'T WORK!! THIS IS FUN!!
All volunteers under the age of 18 will require parent or legal guardian signatures on application forms. You must be at least 16 years of age to volunteer.
