a new science center? |
Because
today, a national crisis in science education exists
that could threaten our global leadership and future
quality of life of our nation's people. |

For every 100 students beginning the first grade, less
than one will seek a career in a science-related field
(this includes doctors, biologists, veterinarians, engineers
and others) |

Over 50% of teachers currently teaching science or mathematics
in the middle and upper grades do not have a degree in
either subject. |

A recent government report revealed that foreign students
received 36% of the Bachelors and 45% of Master’s
degrees in science and engineering earned in the United
States. |
How
does a science center help change this crisis?
It excites
young minds about science in our everyday
lives. This leads to a desire to discover
more about the possibilities of pursuing
science in school and eventually as a career. |
