Why build a new science center?
Because today, a national crisis in science education exists that could threaten our global leadership and future quality of life of our nation's people.

For every 100 students beginning the first grade, less than one will seek a career in a science-related field (this includes doctors, biologists, veterinarians, engineers and others)

Over 50% of teachers currently teaching science or mathematics in the middle and upper grades do not have a degree in either subject.

A recent government report revealed that foreign students received 36% of the Bachelors and 45% of Master’s degrees in science and engineering earned in the United States.

How does a science center help change this crisis?
It excites young minds about science in our everyday lives. This leads to a desire to discover more about the possibilities of pursuing science in school and eventually as a career.
