Edible Science         June 7 - 11, 2010

It’s time to play with your food and enjoy a week of science that’s never tasted so good! Experience the kitchen chemistry behind your favorite foods and candies, create food-related crafts, work with simple machines to launch marshmallows, and more! Bring your appetite for a fun-filled week of edible science.

Wacky Weather          June 14 - 18, 2010

It’s coldl! It’s hot! It’s wild and out of control! Campers will gain an understanding of the science that takes place in the layer of the atmosphere that is closest to the surface of the earth – the troposphere.  Campers will not only discover the mysterious causes behind Earth’s wacky weather, they will also learn how to prepare and respond when a hurricane heads our way. From earthquakes to meteor showers and tornadoes to volcanoes, this week is sure to blow the top off of summer camp!

Blast Off!             June 21 - 25, 2010 (week is full)

3, 2, 1, Blast Off! Join us for astronaut training camp as you learn what it’s like to be an astronaut, plan your mission into space, build and launch your very own rocket, and even enjoy some astronaut ice cream. You decide if you’re going to visit the liquid nitrogen volcano on Neptune or discover why Mars has rusted. Prepare yourself for an out of this world experience!

Inventors Workshop     June 28 – July 2, 2010

From the bike you ride to the bubble gum you chew, almost everything we come in contact with was once invented by someone like you! Do you have dreams of becoming the next Benjamin Franklin or do you wonder where the Frisbee came from? Come learn about famous inventors and recreate some of their inventions. You will even be able to design and create your very own invention.

Jaws and Claws         July 5 – 9, 2010

Are you brave enough to learn about those animals that scare most? Identify the jaws of different sharks, become Jr. Paleontologists and explore the museum’s dinosaur fossils, pet an American Alligator, and make your very own shark tooth necklace. This week will only be for the bravest of campers!

What on Earth?         July 12 - 16, 2010

Have you ever picked up a rock and wondered how old it must be, or dug a hole in the sand to see if you really can get to China? Join us this week to dig for and identify fossils, work as a team to clean polluted water, and build your very own ecosystem to take home. Experience first-hand how fascinating Earth is, both inside and out!

Engineer It            July 19 - 23, 2010

This week you will be transformed into an engineer, by discovering how buildings stand up, how machines move, and how people make and use technology. Campers will use problem solving skills in order to figure out how to make a car powered by a balloon and to test the strength of their toothpick and spaghetti bridge, plus many more engineering feats!

Sandy Shores to Ocean Floors         July 26 - 30, 2010

Discover what lies hidden beneath the surface of the sea.  Campers will become Junior Marine Biologists and will explore every aspect of the ocean; from microscopic plants and animals to the fiercest predators of the sea.  Campers will also investigate the harshest habitat on Earth – tide pools!  Campers will gain a deeper understanding through sea star, sea cucumber, and squid dissections.

Nature Adventure       August 2 - 6, 2010

Enjoy all that nature has to offer! Come experience what it’s like to be a park ranger, while you gain survival skills along the way. You will be challenged to build a shelter using natural resources, learn what plants are ok to eat, and how to find your way using the stars. You will also be sure to encounter animals along your adventure and spend a day at the Palm Beach Zoo!

Science Stew           August 9 - 13, 2010

This week is the exclamation point of summer camp. Don’t miss out on all the coolest science experiments and labs the Museum has to offer. Our ‘Stew’ will satisfy your hunger for all things science.
